Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Monday, higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 297.46 to 300.14 points, a gain of 0.90 percent. BRVM Composite index gained 0.69 percent at 298.66 points against 296.60 points previously.
The equity market capitalization lost XOF 51 billion (about US$87,760) to close at XOF 7,369.61 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,318.77 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 175,801 traded stocks relative to 142,980 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 1,981.752 million (against XOF 2,285.397 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 33 traded securities via 270 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was Ecobank Transnational Incorporated TOGO with 110,250 traded securities (accounted for about 62.71 percent of the total volume). SONATEL SENEGAL recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 1,390.944 million contributing nearly 70.19 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 31.64 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 21.91.
Among the 33 traded securities today, 14 stocks experienced price gains, 12 witnessed price drops and 7 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price. BANK OF AFRICA BURKINA FASO emerged as the top price gainer after adding 7.50 percent to end at XOF 113,950. ONATEL BURKINA FASO gained 7.21 percent at XOF 13,600 and BOLLORE AFRICA LOGISTIC COTE D’IVOIRE ended at XOF 200,000 after surging by 2.56 percent. TOTAL COTE D’IVOIRE share price advanced by 2.54 percent to close at XOF 23,995 and UNIWAX COTE D’IVOIRE with a closing price of XOF 28,000 after surging by 1.82 percent.
Conversely, NESTLE COTE D’IVOIRE plunged by 5.66 percent to settle at XOF 50,000 as the biggest loser and SERVAIR ABIDJAN COTE D’IVOIRE sagged by 4.88 percent to trade at XOF 78,000. AIR LIQUIDE COTE D’IVOIRE plummeted by 4.88 percent to close at XOF 19,500 and BANK OF AFRICA COTE D’IVOIRE sagged by 3.92 percent to trade at XOF 120,100. SMB COTE D’IVOIRE traded at XOF 18,500 after losing 2.63 percent.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index fell by 0.70 percent at 161.45 points but public utilities sector index gained 1.74 percent to end at 832.35 points. Financial services sector index sagged by 0.67 percent to end at 107.54 points but distribution sector index jumped by 0.98 percent to end at 551.16 points. Agriculture sector index remained flat to trade at 190.87 points. Transportation sector index soared by 2.52 percent to settle at 972.57 points and miscellaneous sector index added 1.11 percent to close at 561.73 points.
